Take the Claude Code 271-Question Quiz (2026)
The Claude Code Ultimate Guide includes 271 quiz questions that test your understanding of Claude Code internals, configuration, and best practices. Here is how to use them effectively for self-assessment and team training.
Prerequisites
- Basic Claude Code experience (at least a few weeks of usage)
- Git installed for cloning the repository
Step 1: Clone the Repository
git clone https://github.com/FlorianBruniaux/claude-code-ultimate-guide.git ~/claude-ultimate-guide
Step 2: Find the Quiz Sections
The 271 questions are distributed across topic sections within the guide. Navigate to the quiz content:
ls ~/claude-ultimate-guide/
Questions appear at the end of each major section, testing the material covered in that section. Topics include:
- Configuration and CLAUDE.md
- Tool use and tool definitions
- Hooks and lifecycle events
- MCP servers and integrations
- Security and threat modeling
- Context window management
- Agent orchestration
- Performance optimization
Step 3: Take the Cold Assessment
Before studying any material, answer as many questions as you can. This baseline reveals your actual knowledge gaps versus what you think you know.
Go through each section’s quiz questions and score yourself:
- Confident and correct: You know this well
- Uncertain but correct: Lucky guess — study this topic
- Wrong: Knowledge gap — priority study area
Track your scores per section to identify which areas need the most attention.
Step 4: Study Weak Areas
For each section where you scored below 70%, read the corresponding guide content. The guide’s 22K+ lines provide thorough coverage of every topic. Focus on:
- Reading the explanatory text for topics you got wrong
- Understanding the why behind each answer, not just the what
- Taking notes on insights that surprised you
The threat modeling section is particularly important if you use Claude Code in professional settings. Many developers score poorly here because security considerations are not covered in most Claude Code tutorials.
Step 5: Retake and Verify
After studying, retake the sections you scored poorly on. Target 85%+ per section. If you are still below 70% on any section, re-read and try again.
Using the Quiz for Team Training
The quiz works well for team onboarding:
- Baseline assessment: New team members take the full quiz on day one
- Targeted study: Assign sections based on their scores
- Threshold requirement: Set a minimum score (e.g., 80%) for sections relevant to your team’s work
- Periodic reassessment: Re-quiz quarterly as Claude Code evolves
Getting the Most From Each Section
Different quiz sections require different study approaches:
Configuration and CLAUDE.md (easiest): Most developers score well here. Focus on edge cases — what happens when rules conflict, how CLAUDE.md interacts with system prompts, and how project vs user-level settings are prioritized.
Tool use and definitions (moderate): You use tools daily but may not know the internal definitions. Study the system prompts repo to understand how each of the 24 tools is defined and constrained.
Hooks and lifecycle events (moderate): If you have not written hooks, study the hooks guide before attempting these questions. The quiz tests understanding of execution order, error handling, and matcher syntax.
Security and threat modeling (hardest): Most developers score poorly here. The questions cover supply chain attacks through MCP servers, prompt injection through tool outputs, and data exfiltration risks. Study the threat modeling section thoroughly — this knowledge has real production implications.
Context window management (moderate): Questions about how Claude manages the context window, what gets compressed, and how /compact works. Understanding this improves both your quiz score and your daily productivity.
Tracking Progress Over Time
Create a simple score tracker:

Troubleshooting
Questions reference features you have never seen: Some questions cover advanced or less-common features. If a question is about a feature you do not use, note it and move on — but consider whether that feature might benefit your workflow. The quiz often surfaces tools and patterns you would not discover through normal usage.
Answers seem wrong: The guide may lag behind the latest Claude Code version. If an answer contradicts your verified experience with the current version, trust your experience and check official documentation. Open an issue on the repo if you find a definitive error.
Too many questions: Do not try to complete all 271 in one sitting. Budget 30 minutes per section and spread it across a week. Focus on sections most relevant to your work first — for most developers, that means Configuration, Tool use, and Hooks before tackling Security or Performance.
Unsure about an answer: For questions where you are uncertain, make your best guess and mark it for review. After checking the answer, read the relevant section of the guide to understand why. This learn-from-mistakes approach is more effective than studying the material first.
